Lead the acquisition strategy for our Victorian business

At Frasers Property Australia, we don’t just create buildings; we create belonging. We are known for delivering exceptional communities with integrity, innovation, and sustainability at the core.

We are currently seeking a strategic and commercially astute Development Director - Acquisitions to join our Melbourne team.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the General Manager Development VIC, you will lead all new business activity for the Victorian business unit. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for planning and implementing acquisition strategies that will secure our future pipeline across residential land and master planned communities.

You will operate with a high level of independence, leading major negotiations and generating alignment across our national Development, Finance, and Investment teams to ensure we meet our annual restocking requirements.

What you’ll do

  • Acquisitions: Drive the identification, evaluation, and negotiation of appropriate development sites, managing transactions in excess of $150M with landowners and vendors.
  • Leadership: As a member of the Business Unit Senior Leadership Team, you will play a critical role in driving the broader business strategy, while providing mentoring to junior staff and fostering a work environment based on mutual respect and continuous improvement.
  • Strategy & Research: Build a robust, research-led acquisition strategy by analysing market growth opportunities and maintaining a strong property networking strategy.
  • Feasibility Analysis: Lead the preparation of feasibility studies and financial analysis for development opportunities, ensuring strict adherence to the FPA Risk Return Matrix.
  • Stakeholder Management: Represent Frasers Property within highly regulated environments, building productive relationships with government authorities, agents, capital partners, and consultants.
  • Internal Collaboration: Practice a consultative approach with internal teams (Sales & Marketing, Design, Construction) to maximize yield potential and ensure robust cost assumptions.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience: Extensive property industry experience in the acquisition of residential development sites and land through the property cycle.
  • Qualifications: A degree qualification in Planning, Valuation, or Property Economics.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with development feasibility software is essential, with Argus Developer highly preferred.
  • Commercial Acumen: High-level commercial acumen, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to pivot as the environment evolves.
  • Networking: A demonstrated strong networking ability with the capacity to influence across the business unit and external market.
  • Attributes: Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to build long-standing, productive relationships.

Why join Frasers Property Australia?

  • Join a collaborative team where you can make a tangible impact.
  • Work in a culture that values growth and provides career development opportunities.
  • Access to health & wellbeing benefits.
  • Discounts at Frasers including 50% off hospitality.
  • An inclusive and award-winning workplace culture.

If you are a strategic leader ready to shape the future of our Victorian portfolio, we’d love to hear from you.

Don’t quite meet every single requirement but still believe you’d be a great fit for the job? We’ll never know if you don’t hit the ‘apply’ button.
